Missing Puzzle Piece

It is a large puzzle spanning the wooden floor
between the couch and window but it is missing
one piece in the upper left-hand patch of blue sky. 

What if that piece
is not just blue sky
with a cirrus strip
or cumulus blob?

What if there is a
hurt bird falling
through that
amorphous shape? 

or a glorious butterfly, 
or a tiny kite given
so much string the
holding hand appears
nowhere below? 

What if God found it under the rug and put it
in the kitchen drawer for safe-keeping beside
the random keys and detached superman cape.
